E.I.I.Festival FestView Exhibition: The Ross Bandstand
The Ross Bandstand

The Ross Bandstand:- Despite years of neglect the Ross Bandstand has always been a popular venue for both Edinburgh folk and the many visitors to the city. With plans now afoot to replace the structure with something more versatile and able to cater for the expanding range of events hosted within the Gardens - the E.I.I.Festival 2006 is presenting a series of online photographic exhibitions taking a fond look back at some of the events we have covered at the venue.

Behind The Scenes: Festival Review 2001 Bandstand
Princes Street Gardens Edinburgh
Featuring Lorraine Jordan & The Sunshine Delay

For many years during the Edinburgh festival, worldart.com took control of the Ross Bandstand in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens and via their 'Festival Review' provided daily free performances featuring some of the festival's finest musicians.

During 2001 the Flipside Music Festival (part of the the E.I.I.Festival 2001), was able to provide Festival Review with a wide and varied selection of bands and musicians from those participating in our own event at Whistle Binkies

This selection of images were produced one sunny afternoon when I was invited backstage and presented with the opportunity to provide a rare glimpse from behind the scenes of an essential element of the Edinburgh festival.

The photographs were obtained directly from both the Festival Review broadcast centre and on stage during the sound checks of Lorraine Jordan and The Sunshine Delay, both of whom also participated in the Flipside festival.

FestView Galleries
One of the most popular elements of the E.I.I.Festival has always been the annual presentation of a series of photo galleries detailing life in Festival City. This year in addition to our own images we are inviting both local photographers and those visiting Edinburgh during the festival season to send us their photographs for inclusion in Edinburgh FestView 2006.

If you would like to have your festival photographs included in the exhibition please complete the online application and follow the 'Participation Info' link on the contents guide to learn how to send your images to us directly via e-mail.

The FestView 2006 online galleries is just one of the many events in this year's Edinburgh International Internet Festival: Further Information
