Ego was previously a casino and before that a dancehall after
the First World War in 1918 and it still has the look to prove
it. A glamorous and regal ballroom style main room with a
second room below that houses a fish tank with the funkiest
fish in club land.
Ego has been established now for over 10 years as a
nightclub primarily and is now moving into a new era and
developing into a much needed live music venue in Edinburgh.
We are known as the most diverse nightclub in Scotland,
housing acts such as Mr Scruff, Judge Jules, Felix Da
Housecat, Green Velvet and Gil Scott Heron. From the
institution that is VIBE, Edinburghs leading weekly gay night
to the decadent and burlesque Vegas, we also have funk and
soul a plenty with Modern Lovers and Indie/Punk rock nights
for all you grungers out there. A veritable smorgasbord of
sounds! You are bound to find something at Ego to suit your

SUMATRA, DINO MARTINI, BUGSY SEAGULL and SAM JOSE. The glamorous
VEGAS SHOWGIRLS hand out complimentary ’Elvis dollars’ for
patrons to gamble in THE STARDUST LOUNGE CASINO on the blackjack
table or on the roulette wheel (where they can win free
drinks!).
There’s a bottle of champagne for the winner of the VEGAS! Limbo
Dancing competition (the ONLY one where you don’t actually need
to have ANY limbo dancing talent to win!), and another bottle of
bubbly for the winner of ’the most stylishly dressed’
competition.
Let’s rewind to the halcyon days of the town they call "Lost
Wages", back before they strapped a sack of dynamite to The
Sands. This is Bugsy’s town but its Frankie’s world and Dino,
Sammy and co. have the whole sweet swingin’ sphere locked down
tight into a Nevada state of mind. Fast forward forty plus years
and a new breed of sultans of swing are blowin’ cooler than an
Ipanema breeze and hotter than an Acapulco afternoon. Welcome to
