Welcome to the Edinburgh International Internet Festival 2006

Greetings Fae Edinburgh!
Founded in 1999 by a single Edinburgh based disabled self taught artist and web designer as the city's original Visual Arts Festival - the 5th Edinburgh International Internet Festival returned between May and December 2006 after a two year break and once again rolled out an extensive selection of online artistic exhibitions, events and community based projects.

Community Content 2006 - 'Edinburgh Grassroots' While in previous years the Edinburgh Internet Festival has been largely aimed at providing services for the visual and performing arts... The 2006 event specifically concentrated on encouraging the participation of Edinburgh based creative individuals and organisations working within their local communities.

ACE IT Silver Surfers Festival 2006

During May the E.I.I.Festival joined up with ACE IT (Age Concern Edinburgh) to celebrate the ACE IT Silver Surfers Festival 2006.

To mark the launch of the event MSP Sarah Boyack joined the Edinburgh Silver Surfers at Edinburgh Castle where we had the rare honour of assisting in the firing of the world famous One O'clock Gun.

After the trip to the castle the surfers returned to the ACE IT office where the festival was officially launched with the 'live' uploading of the ACE IT People's War Group online exhibition 'U-Boat Fleet Surrenders' - This kicked off a week long series of festival events which came to a close with a VIP guided tour of HMS Edinburgh!

The Moose In The Hoose Project

I am also delighted to announce the launch of the 'Moose In The Hoose' - A project aimed at introducing the benefits of computers to those living in Care Homes and Sheltered Housing, using retired/ senior volunteers. It is a partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council's Department of Health and Social Care, CSV's Retired & Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) and Age Concern Edinburgh Information Technology (ACE IT) with web design provided for ACE IT by PoL Steele of Scotfestival.
