Monsters
Do you have Monsters in your closet?
Well, Charlie has.
And so does his entire family.
But then again, doesn't every family?
'It isn't love that brings people
together at times like this.
It's fear'
This brand new play lets those Monsters loose with destructive
consequences: a story about a family trapped in the
pressure-cooker that we know as Christmas, in a surreal world
which is creepily close to our own.
Monsters is a bloody tale of family, repressed homosexuality and
the true meaning of Christmas. Behind the closed doors of the
'perfect' Apple pie American family, something is stirring. With
the arrival of an old family member, relationships begin to
crumble.
But the author J. Randall Mayflower also heads an exploration
into how we desperately need the cliches of family and Christmas
to cope with the task of living, and indeed to produce any kind
of theatre at all.
This material is of utmost relevance today in an age when
everyone is unsure about thier value systems, and when we often
feel tormented by a lack of certainty.
Not/But Productions is a brand new contemporary theatre company,
