Gorgie
Dalry lies just to the west of Haymarket and is only a
ten-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle. The area played a
distinguished role in the industrial history of the city
throughout the 20th century and has long been associated
with some of the most famous names relating to Scottish
brewing.
However, over the last 25 years a change from
industrialisation to residential use has seen Gorgie
Dalry become popular with families seeking homes within
easy reach of the city centre.
Gorgie City Farm is a delightful green gem nestled in
the very heart of Scotland’s capital and is a favourite
attraction for local residents, tourists and animal
lovers alike.
For families with young children the farm provides a
singularly special opportunity – allowing the young ones
to interact with a wide selection of farm animals
including horses, sheep, goats, cows, pigs and chickens.
In addition, the Education Centre provides regular
courses and workshops covering a wide range of subjects
aimed at all ages.
For Gorgie Dalry residents the farm provides both a
restful quiet area just off the busy main road and for
those with young children – Gorgie City Farm is a ‘Real
Treasure!’ |
