Guitar, violin & vocals. Original music. Genuine tales. Unanimously unique!
Critically acclaimed at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe and 2007 Adelaide Fringe festivals

Whimsical Tricycle are Kieran Butler (guitar, vocals) and Michelle Wilson (violin, vocals). They play original folk music and their live shows mix music with storytelling that features humour and pathos.

Their debut CD 'Kismet', featuring 15 songs was released in 2006.

At the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe, Whimsical Tricycle gained notoriety when violinist, Michelle Wilson, was detained at Heathrow and sent back to Australia to apply for an entry visa. In 2007 Whimsical Tricycle returns; armed with glowing reviews for their unique storytelling and song-writing abilities.

Whimsical Tricycle - Insane In London

"Four stars… touching and heart-rending…
Crowded House are an obvious reference point…
Love, laughs, life and death are all visited in the space of the hour-long show
which is built around the central message of the importance of living life to the full…
one of the most uplifting musical experiences on the Fringe"
Edinburgh Evening News (UK)

“Four and half stars… natural Australian humour and honesty” Adelaide Advertiser (AUST)

“From the moment they get on stage, you feel like getting to know them better…
something a little different at the Fringe and definitely well worth your time”
db magazine (AUST)

“Sometimes funny, sometimes touching… a very engaging performance…
songs are well-crafted, intelligent and sensitive”
Rip it Up magazine (AUST)

In addition to performing Whimsical Tricycle – Insane in London, Kieran Butler and Michelle Wilson will appear at the 2007 Fringe with comedian Austin Low in ‘Che Guevara on the Fringe – Evonne Keron Strikes Back’ – “a half-arsed allegory” that satirises the Fringe as a microcosm of capitalism. This four star show (Evening News) has arguably been the most anarchic on the Fringe over the past 2 years and version 3.0 promises to surpass any benchmarks set thus far.

Whimsical Tricycle is Kieran Butler (guitar, vocals) and Michelle Wilson (violin, vocals). They have been performing together since 2001. They recorded their 15 track debut CD ‘Kismet’ between 2004 and 2006 in Germany and Australia. Kieran is also an international stand up comedian and Michelle is also a peri-operative theatre nurse.

In 2005 Whimsical Tricycle wrote the song ‘Buckfast’. The music video for the song has since become a cult hit at youtube.com. Whimsical Tricycle regularly appears in the top ten at the mp3.com.au folk charts and recently hit the top 40 on the radio Triple J (AUST) roots charts.
